“It was the best of times…”

Talking Birds’ Nestival 30th Anniversary Year wound up in style with a Festive Goose Gala & Retrospective Projects Exhibition. It was a wonderful, joyous – and entirely Talking Birds – way to bring our Nestival year of 30th Anniversary celebrations to a close, with performances of our cult classic ‘Nordic Noir’ tragi-comedy Trevor Goose & his Dark Night of Lights and an exhibition of set models, costumes and photographs – rounded off with a cracking party.

Huge thanks to everyone who was there as audience, cast or crew: Flock, Friends, Supporters and Freelance Family plus a few old Birds come home to roost. To all those who weren’t able to join us due to timing, illness, train strikes, snow or unreliable motors – we missed you of course.

Behold the Goose

During the evening, Derek said “We’ve always thought that Talking Birds is a thing – but it turns out that it’s a place, and that everyone that comes through it leaves their mark”.

Huge thanks to every single person who has left their mark during the last thirty years – whether you collaborated on a project, bought a ticket, funded our work, performed in a show, got pulled into an impromtu queue – or game of cricket or bowls – when you were out shopping, or said something nice, or moving or thoughtful or encouraging about something we made.

Listen again from the cheep seats…

If you weren’t able to join us (or you’d just like to relive the evening) you can listen again to the livestream from Trevor Goose and his Dark Night of Lights here (for the first half) and here (for the second half).

And have a gander at the pics…

Here’s a selection of Andy Moore’s beautiful photos (interspersed with a few of Janet’s rather less beautiful ones!)
